The cost is $225. The first thing you'll receive is a tech primer on how to get the most from your experience - so you can set up your Zoom sound and your phone camera for the consult, and we'll both be able to see and hear what we need.

We'll schedule a 30-minute Zoom consult. I will look at your reeds, assess the crow and sound, and give you the exact steps that will help you to improve them.

THEN, you’ll be invited to Reed Club for the first Monday of the next three months. That’s three 90-minute group coaching sessions, in which the curriculum is YOUR questions and your reeds. You’ll learn from the conversations I have with others, from feedback other people might have on your question, and you’ll get direct answers and demonstrations from me.

As an add-on, you can sign up for a discounted Reed Repair Shop session and send me a few reeds in the mail. I’ll analyze and improve your reeds and make you a video that you can rewatch over and over.

I made this a no-brainer price because I love this work. $225 gets you our individual consult and three group sessions, or $275 gets you a Reed Repair Shop add-on.

Hand-made from start to finish, with the same high-quality cane I use for my own reeds. Play-tested to my exacting standards.

Strength: I strive for stability and a comfortable level of resistance in my reeds, with a relatively small tip opening so you can relax and blow instead of biting to manage the pitch.  Medium is my own preferred playing strength, and there is more resistance to it than most commercial “Mediums”.  

Staples: I find that my basic synthetic tubes are just fine, and younger students tend to prefer them because they slide easily in and out of the oboe. They are consistent and functional!  All of my reeds are professional quality - this staple just saves you some $$ if you are not fussy.
